Be creative using brain, not tools

I would like to share with you all photographers and also everyone;

I received a call from Canon last 2 days. My special camera arrived and they told me that I can collect it anytime. I was so excited to receive a new camera body. According to my history, 1 camera only last 1 year. Digital technology is different from the old analog technology. Old analog SLRs are mostly mechanical. They have no processor that become the most expensive part in a dSLR. I remember how i moved from d70 to d70s then d200 and converted to Canon with 30D and now slightly more in term of the features. Obviously, this Canon 5D is a fullframe camera. It’s not the top range camera. Some people asked me to buy the 1-series. Very often people told me this sentence “Angkat 1d mk III lah, u can afford that”. And normally i answered, “I’m a wedding photographer, not a sport shooters. No practical points driving a ferrari at Jalan Masjid India”. It’s not the matter weather we can afford or not. I just try to be practical.

I only need a camera as a tool of creativity. Not something that will create good photos on its own. Most of the people think, expensive camera will produce good photos. I don’t deny that but it’s not a major factor. When people asked me my unfavorite question “Camera apa SN pakai?” I normally answered them “My camera is my eyes and my eyes is my camera…but I use Canon system as a tool for capturing” <—kalau tak jawap nanti org cakap kita lokek pulak, tapi kita nak org tau camera tu cuma tools jer. Cap ayam pun boleh

Changing the camera every year for me and CandidSyndrome photographes is our tradition. That’s another way for us to ensure the quality of the pictures will not be dragged down by the system limitation. Hence, we upgrade a new and fresh camera every year. That’s why for most professional photographers, they lost in price. But they give u quality in return. By average I shoot 10,000++ images a month and about 120,000++ images a year. Talking about digital technology, most of the camera will end at 100,000 shuttercount. Then either they have to change the new shutter or buy a new camera. The costs for both aren’t far.
